Famille : Mark Harmon est le fils du footballeur Tom Harmon et d'une star de cinéma célèbre dans les années 1940 : Elyse Knox.
Il a également deux soeurs : Kristin et Kelly Harmon. Il épouse le 21 mars 1987 l'actrice Pam Dawber avec qui il a deux enfants : Sean
Harmon Thomas (26 avril 1988) et Ty Harmon (25 Juin 1992).
Etudes :Diplomé en communication en 1974 de UCLA où il fit notamment du football américain en tant que Quaterback avant de devenir acteur.
En 1996, il a sauvé deux adolescent qui ont eu un accident de voiture devant son domicile. Utilisant un marteau pour casser la fenêtre du véhicule et
sortant les deux jeunes pour qu'ils ne soient pas brûlés vifs, pendant que sa femme appelait le 911.
Mais l'acteur fait tout pour minimiser son héroïsme dans cette histoire.
Autres informations : En 1986, il est élu l'homme le plus sexy de l'année par le magazin People.
Fan de baseball, il possède des parts d'une petite équipe la 'San Bernardino Spirit qui apparaitra dans son film Stealing Home.
